Hvem har vel IKKE lyst på de? ;) Peneste felga til 2/7/9 serien, ferdig diskutert! :p

Aldri i livet.
*pekefinger*
Most likely from an S80.

I might actually be able to help you there, if you're serious about it. My uncle runs endurance races with his 850, and has basically everything set up around the engine to drop in a Yamaha V8 from an S80, except for the engine itself. Including a manual gearbox.
However, it is NOT a plug&play-adventure you're about to take on. The engine will have to be mounted transversely, with custom mounts, exhaust, coolant, fuel and oil lines, not to mention a pretty huge wiring job. The V8s were never delivered with a manual, so some custom parts will have to be sourced like the clutch and flywheel pack.
But it is possible. Its actually shorter than the straight five in your car today, its front and rear space thats the issue. I dont think a typically mounted twinturbo setup will fit, as theres little enough space between the engine and radiator as is... so something clever will have to be made.
I say go. You have my full support. Alternatively, you could just rip out the back seat, put the engine there with the transaxle going straight down to the rear axle through some kind of a gearbox, and make (as far as I know) the worlds first and only mid engined, RWD Volvo:D
Sir.. I like the way you think,lol.. It's something I'd seriously love to do but I'd need to get hold of a donor engine first for sensible money, hell I'd even be willing to run it standard for a while. I'd mount it transversely anyway as there would be way to much work involved in turning it around to run the rear wheels (without dropping it in the back as you mentioned, lol). Doubt it's going to happen in the immediate future but it's certainly something to have good think about and to try and find some work arounds for the gearbox etc. Personally I've nothing against lengthening the front just a little to get it to fit in.
Alternatively, so that you dont fuck up the cars looks, you could move the cooling pack forwards. I think there is a few inches of room up to the bumper. Will be a hell of a lot easier than lengthening the entire car for sure.
As I said, I'm pretty sure it will drop in no issue as standard, and having a custom exhaust manifold made to feed the turbin on the front side (left side if seen as an RWD engine) is a minor issue compared to lengthening the front.
Now, for the much more interesting part. Exhaust. You wont have room under your car to run two pipes in addidtion to the transaxle for the rear wheels (your R is an AWD, right? if not, that makes it easier), so most likely you'll have to make two 4-2-1 manifolds, entirely custom ofc, and merge those two at the back after the turbos, into one single 3" or more. Or you could cut the floor up and make new exhaust canals, or do a sidepipe behind the front wheels, or straigt pipes up through the hood...
SO many ways to do this, legal or not:-)
Yeah I'm in the UK so although we still have lots of rules to follow they're not as bad as those you have over there. My cars a 2wd so no awd system to get in the way, alternatively... I was thinking last night that I could just rip the whole lot out of the Xc and use the awd system and autobox, it would make fitting it easier though I dont know how much of the Xc's awd system would mate up to the R. This is all by the by though because I'd still need to track a damaged one down first to use as a donor vehicle.
It will fit, no real issues. Ofc, its a lot of work, but the only thing thats not bolt on, is a couple of brackets on the rear axle fitting. Theres a few people here whos done it (V70 or 850 AWD drivetrain onto 855s and 854), so it is definitely possible. Remember to get the exhaust system too, as it takes a nasty bend to get around the transaxle, an FWD downpipe wont fit.
Tøft, men kjip kvalitet på bildene da!
Digger fargen! :D

(-ere?)
Nesten værre med de stygge felga :p
