Hi guys,

My girlfriend thought it would be an awesome idea to loose one of our car keys last year. For christmas this year she surprised my by doing the exact same thing.
Now we have a car stuck with no keys, its a 2001 v70. I know we are going to have to get a new set, but has anyone any idea how much it will cost? do we need to change the lacks too, or can they give us a new set just by supplying the VIN number of the car?

merry bloody christmas

You can get a new key at your local dealer by supplying your reg.number or VIN You will still have to tow the car to the workshop to program the car to the new keys.

But then someone could unlock your car with a found key, but it will be impossible to start the car.

Well, Ive had a few trips to Frydenbø Bergen with my volvo, and judging by my previous experiences, think it will cost about 12 billion euro`s*

ok, 2 new keys plus new new remote controls cost around 4000kr, the insurance will cover the cost of picking the car up and delivering it to the dealer in loddefjord, then theres the programming of the keys...

wonder if the keys covered by my insurance, hmmm.

edit:

keys arent insured :-(

Sounds expensive.

A new normal key is about 550NOK , and the programming about 600NOK (Each key)
So for a new KEY 1150NOK, but that is without remote. only the key.

Around 4.000 for new keys for my XC90 (according to the previous owner), so that sounds about right. From Autoteknikk in Loddefjord.

yea, its Autotektnikk in Loddefjord thats sorting out the keys for me too.
I was told that it would be 2 keys & 2 remotes, i think that includes programming as well.
